This Privacy Policy describes how the CarFax Studio Chrome extension ("Extension", "we", "our", or "us") handles information when you use the extension.
The extension is designed to help users access vehicle history report links while browsing supported vehicle auction pages.
The extension may read the following information from supported pages:
We do not collect personal information such as your name, email address, payment information, or browsing history unrelated to the extension’s function.
The extension uses the VIN found on supported Copart and IAA vehicle pages to generate or request vehicle history lookup functionality for the user.
If the extension sends a request to our remote API, the request is used only to process extension features and return the requested VIN-related result or link.
The extension may communicate with a remote server endpoint operated by us, such as a PHP API, in order to process VIN-related requests and provide extension functionality.
Our remote API returns data only and does not provide or execute remote JavaScript or WebAssembly code inside the extension.
The extension may use Chrome local storage to save limited user preferences or settings required for proper functionality.
We do not use extension storage to permanently store personal data.
We do not sell, rent, or trade user data to third parties.
We only share limited technical data with our server when necessary to provide the extension’s core functionality.
The extension itself does not use cookies for tracking users and does not perform advertising, profiling, or behavioral tracking.
The extension may interact with third-party websites such as Copart, IAA, and vehicle history providers as part of its intended function. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third-party websites or services.
We take reasonable measures to protect the limited information processed by the extension. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
You may stop all information processing by uninstalling the extension at any time through the Chrome extensions management page.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
