• Order information: the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), or license plate and state, that you submit to generate a report.

• Usage data: pages viewed, links clicked, and actions taken on the site.
• Device & log data: IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and timestamps.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Process your orders and deliver vehicle history reports;
• Create and maintain your account and report history;
• Process payments and prevent fraudulent or unauthorized transactions;

3. Vehicle & VIN data

When you submit a VIN or license plate, we transmit it to third-party data providers in order to look up and compile a vehicle history report. The resulting report concerns the vehicle, not you personally, and may include records such as accidents, title brands, odometer readings, ownership history, recalls, and liens. We retain a copy of reports you purchase so you can access them from your account.

4. Payments

Payments are processed securely through PayPal, which also handles major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. When you pay, your payment details are submitted directly to PayPal and are governed by PayPal's Privacy Statement. We receive confirmation of the transaction and limited details (such as a transaction ID and status) but never see or store your full card number.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to operate the Service:

• Service providers: vehicle data providers, payment processors, email/SMTP providers, and hosting services that perform functions on our behalf.
• Legal & safety: when required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of CarHistoryX, our users, or others.
• Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.

6. Cookies & analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, secure the Service, and understand how the site is used. We may use analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) that set their own cookies to collect aggregated usage statistics. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; however, some features of the Service may not function properly without them.

7. Data retention

We retain your account information and purchased reports for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. We may retain certain information to comply with legal, tax, accounting, or fraud-prevention obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
